
Dan aka Dot-Tone Dan Campbell has a life long career as an apparel artist and a multi-award-winning color separation artist with over 35 years of experience in the apparel screen printing industry. Dan has been employed by many known industry names such as M&R Printing Equipment, Russell Athletics and The Disney Design Group producing hard-lines and soft-lines merchandise art for all of Disney's Parks and Resorts.
Dan has produced over 35,000 color separations during his career and has extensive knowledge in
the multitude of ways for receiving, handling, exporting, and saving files between the needed programs for
optimum end results and efficency. Dan has the needed background to cover various separation methods for all
types of difficult and easy color separation files. From working with customer supplied low resolution jpg’s to high
level computer created multi layered RGB and CMYK Photoshop Illustrations to scanned in traditional hand
painted watercolor and oil paintings. Dan is able to break each project down into easy to understand controllable
methods for new artist using film positives and CTS machines for output. Dan now passes that knowledge onto new artist and print shops through his online training training program via zoom meetings.
With years of hands-on experience as graphic designer, Illustrator and color separator, Dan is proficient with Adobe's Creative Cloud suite of programs, focusing on Illustrator and Photoshop, creating separations for artwork used in shops around the world. With his extensive understanding of print production with emulsions, coating procedures, exposure and on press application, Dan combines that knowledge with every day spot color printing and Sim-process color printing and separation. Dan demonstrates how to prepare simple to complicated designs
for screen printing on garments while using his specialized skills in color blending in the seps and on press with color count reduction and getting the most out of your images for apparel.
Dan holds a degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh, majoring in visual communications and a minor in Illustration. Currently under his company Dot-Tone-Designs, Dan is working with print shops of all sizes providing high end sim process separations as a service to the industry as well as print training/consulting to the industry.
Dan and his wife Darla also co-own of The Vinyl Hub providing custom imprinted items in Huntsville Alabama.
